germany

So I'm in germany right now, it's pretty cool. I realize now that a blog was probably a stupid idea since I'm busy and usually don't have that much access to the internet. I'll still post pictures on facebook as well so you cna check that out but if you want to talk to me e-mail is probably better.

visa

Why is the German Consulate General only open between 9 and 12 am? And why must they call me at 8:30 in the morning when I'm trying to take a shower?

Congress-Bundestag Scholarship

Hey everyone. This is my first post and as you may have noticed, I haven't left for Germany yet.

That's because I just got the call that I was one of 250 recipiants of the Congress-Bundestag scholarship last night. Neisha (the something coordinator) told me she's sending some secondary forms next week (I'm assuming those are to help place me in an appropriate host home).

I'm leaving for Washington D.C. (there's some big get together there before we all leave for Europe) around mid-July, so I still have roughly 3 months to get ready and hang out with everyone.

I am totally psyched because this is a pretty cool opportunity. I do admit that after the initial rush of it wore off and I began to think more rationally I began to realize how much I am going to miss Oxford.

I know that I always complain about living in a small, southern college town. I hate the atmosphere, the culture, the music, the food, the fact that there is absolutely nothing worth seeing here. Even so, after 5 years this place has begun to grow on me.

I'm going to miss my room, my house, even school. And of course I'll miss all of you. So call, e-mail, write, IM, write a message in the sky with a jet, whatever form of communication you prefer. And of course check out this blog, because as soon as anything interesting surfaces this will be the first place you'll find it.

love, love, love. rui
